Sample Forum Post

Sharing an email to your personal network or posting in your local forum or neighborhood listserv is a great way to help build our movement.

 

Tip:

It's helpful to personalize the lead in to your forum post with your own interest in this topic. Ex. "As a mother (or grandparent) of two kids at Main Street Middle School, I am already seeing the addictive power of cell phones. Though phones are supposed to be in their backpacks for the day, many 7th and 8th graders have them in the pockets and the temptation to check it when it vibrates is too hard to resist. "

"As a retired teacher I feel for teachers today having to bear the burden of being "cell phone police," during class, which comes with the high cost to student-teacher rapport, not to mention instructional time."

Here's sample wording:

Several schools in Vermont have gone truly phone-free for the entire school day and the results are inspiring. We need to get more voices asking for legislators to support the Phone and Social Media-Free Schools bill (H.54 / S.21) so that ALL students and teachers in VT can have this opportunity.
